Imagine a 4kg plane flying a foot close to your head from above
No big deal? how about the same at 70MPH?
Still no big deal? Add some Razor sharp carbon fiber props spinning at 120000RPM awaiting to chop your head
Now i know that is a big deal for sure.
Safety in Aeromodelling is not an option.
Every RC pilot should adhere to the Golden rules of flying to ensure safety to self and other spectators.
Certain steps to be followed on ground and when flying.
1.Always fly your plane in Line of Sight. Stop flying if its getting too dark of foggy to see your plane.
2.Always conduct a Pre-flight check to ensure all the surfaces of the plane are working nice and without any binding. inspect all the movable areas and servos, fuel lines, throttle linkage, Elevators etc .
3.Respect your plane. It is a nice piece of hardware and has got all the aspects to cause severe damage to anyone, always show some respect while flying, do not push off the limits of its capabilities.
4.Fly in a open well ventilated place where in a most comfortable position you can preferably standing.
5.Establish a no fly zone in your area and make sure no one is flying in it.
6.Always communicate your critical situations like dead stick landings as loud as you can with the folks you are flying with.
7.Religiously check for any intruders in you landing spot before landing.
8.All the above rules apply for all types of flying crafts like Helis, Foam planes, Multi rotors etc.
9. A good radio is a good investment in your life. you will never regret in you life if you have invested in a decent 4 channel radio. most planes are good with 4 channel radio unless you want to have some sophisticated uses like Flaps, Retracts etc.
10. Never fly overhead no matter yours or someone else head or in close proximity to someone
11.Do not use metal/ceramic props in your plane.
12.For conventional FM/PCM flyers(Guys with long antenna) do not switch on the radio before making a frequency check in the place you are flying. and always extend the antenna before flying.
13.Always switch on the TX first and then the RX especially for electric planes.
14.Above all use some common sense for flying. this blog cannot possibly collate all the Dos and Dont's of flying but a small mistake will cost you a big headache in life. Fly safe.
